1971 13th World Jamboree

Pocket Patch

Asagiri Heights, Japan

1971 World Jamboree pocket patch. The 12th World Jamboree was held at Asagiri Heights, Japan, 1971. There were 23,758 participants from 87 countries. The theme was "For Understanding". Many varied activities in camp made colourful by oriental decor set against the background of Mount Fuji. Perfect weather at the start and finish, but Jamboree No. 13 is remembered for the typhoon in the middle. Owing to the severe flooding of some sub-camps, 16,000 Scouts had to be evacuated for 48 hours. Excellent emergency plans by the Japanese Scouts and unforgettable hospitality by temporary hosts.
