Madison County Council currently doesn't exist. It merged with Fort Stanwix Council (Rome, New York) in 1968 to form Iroquois Council. The new Iroquois Council was located in Rome, New York. Madison County Council formed about 1922 from the Oneida Council, which formed in 1921. Madison County Council was located in Oneida, New York.
Later in 1981, Iroquois Council merged with Upper Mohawk Council to form the Land of the Oneidas Council located in Utica, New York. The Upper Mohawk Council was located in Utica, NY.
In 2002, Land of the Oneidas merged with General Herkimer Council to form Revolutionary Trails Council located in Utica, New York. The General Herkimer Council was located in Herkimer, NY.
