Ko-Nosh-I-Oni Lodge #34 F1 flap from late 1960's to early 1970's. Ko-Nosh-I-Oni Lodge was chartered in 1968 in the Iroquois Council located in Rome, New York. The flap primarily symbolizes three totems for each of the three lodges, the two merged lodges and the new Ko-Nosh-I-Oni Lodge. First, in the center, is the Ko-Nosh-I-Oni Lodge totem. It is the Tree of Great Peace with its great root extending to the cardinal points of the compass, and burying forever the wars between tribes beneath it. Second, to the right of the Tree of Great Peace, is a Lynx on a branch. The Lynx on the branch symbolizes Gonlix Lodge, one of two lodges that formed Ko-Nosh-I-Oni Lodge. Third, left of the Tree of Great Peace, is a symbol representing Fort Stanwix, the totem of Ona Yote Kaonaga Lodge #500. Ona Yote Kaonaga is the second lodge that merged in the formation of Ko-Nosh-I-Oni Lodge.
Ko-Nosh-I-Oni means. "People of many Fires." The league of the Iroquois was generally referred to as the "People of the Longhouse" and had as many as ten fires. There was one fire per family. The league originally consisted of five tribes. This was later changed by the admittance of the Tuscaroras, which made six Council or Tribal fires.
