Kahagon Lodge #131
F1a First Flap
Cambridge Council (#229)
Kahagon Lodge #131 F1a first flap. Kahagon Lodge #131 was chartered in 1938 in the Cambridge Council (#229) located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Kahagon Lodge totem was a Pine tree and lightning bolt.
The name Kahagon means "in the forest." During one of Kahagon Lodge's first ceremonies at Camp Quinapoxet in Rindge, New Hampshire in the early 1950's, a lightning bolt struck a large pine tree near the ceremonial circle site, and gave the founding members of the lodge the inspiration for the simple, yet meaningful lodge logo which remained unchanged throughout the lodge's existence.
The flap features a green pine tree split by a lightning bolt on a red background and a yellow border. This is a pre-1972 lodge flap. The red background is what was called a twill background. Kahagon Lodge flaps did not come with fully embroidered backgrounds until 1972.
F1a flap: twill left rough rows; First Flap; Minor variations exist.
F1b flap: twill left fine rows; Minor variations exist
